INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

The journal ''Naše more'' publishes papers from all fields oriented to the sea and shipping. The quality of the journal matches the quality of journals with internationally acknowledged reviews.

Both reviewed and unreviewed papers are being published. Reviewed papers are placed under following categories:

  • original scientific paper;
  • preliminary communication;
  • review;
  • conference paper;
  • professional paper.

The original scientific paper contains original scientific research results, previously unpublished. It must be presented in a manner enabling the experiment, i.e. research method, to be repeated and accuracy of the result confirmed.
The preliminary communication contains original data obtained from scientific research, the prompt publishing of which would be useful. Accuracy of the data obtained need not be confirmed.
The review must be a concise critical approach to a field, or part of it, involving active participation of the author. The author's original contribution in relation to works already published must be observed.
The conference paper, previously presented at a conference, must be published as a complete article provided it has not been published before in the conference proceedings.
The professional paper contains useful manuscripts from a relevant profession and does not have to include original research.
Once the categorized papers are accepted for publishing the author undertakes not to publish the same article in another publication without prior approval of the Editorial Board.
Article category is given in its heading and in the contents of the issue.
Other manuscripts published in the journal are not categorized. Such manuscripts are not reviewed.

Paper (article) design

The contents of the paper should be supplied in typescript or in an electronic format (file).
Since in typesetting of the journal (text layout) standardized formats are being used, authors are kindly requested to follow the following procedure:

  1. Preferably the layout should not be prepared in advance. The best solution is to submit the text separately from other attachments (if any).
  2. Drawings and graphics (figures) should be submitted separately, on separate sheets or files, and marked adequately (e.g. numbered pages). The text should contain clear instructions to enable accurate placement of attachments.
  3. If the text layout is already prepared or the author has an idea concerning layout, kindly send the same to us. Such material shall be used as a guideline during text layout.
  4. The format and page size should be A4, with double spacing for editor's comments, and ample space on the margins, e.g. 2,5-3,5 centimetres. The Editorial Board, as a rule, shall not accept papers exceeding 20 pages, together with attachments (figures, tables and drawings).
  5. Authors should submit papers in typescript in 3 copies. The same applies if the paper is submitted in an electronic format (as a Word file), or on a diskette, CD, etc., or by e-mail.

The paper should be prepared in the following way:

  1. Cover page: The title and details on authors. For each author the name and family name must be stated, academic degree (e.g. PhD), professional title, name of the institution with address, or author's home address, telephone, facsimile, or e-mail address.
  2. Second page: The summary, up to 250 words, written in third person singular, in both Croatian and English language. The same applies for key words following the summary, which must be chosen so as to give the best insight into the topic.
  3. Contents must be submitted in a good layout. For example, for an empirical paper the chapters could include: Introduction - Materials and Methods - Results - Discussion - Conclusion, whileas for a theoretical paper: Introduction - Initial Equations (Starting Points) - Solutions - Discussion - Conclusion.
  4. Titles and subtitles of chapters must be submitted in both Croatian and English language.
  5. Mathematical formulae must comply with din 1338 standard; they may be handwritten, but provided they are legible and precise. SI-units must be used. It is recommended that they fit into one row. Equations and mathematical phrases must be marked with numbers in parentheses on the right margin.
  6. Bibliography must be submitted on a separate sheet, in alphabetic order according to family names of authors.

Attachments:

  1. Each table, drawing or graphic (figure) must be suitable for presentation in black-and-white, easily understandable without insight into the paper. If the drawings are on white paper sheet or technical paper, they must be clear and neat, and letters and numbers on them must be legible even after downsizing.
    Publishing attachements in colour is subject to a separate agreement.
  2. Each attachment must be submitted on a separate sheet of paper (separate file), and it's position clearly marked in the text. Attachments must be numbered in Arabic numerals following the sequence in the text. Discriptions of attachments must be written on a separate sheet of paper and attached (fixed overleaf) to relevant attachment. Descriptions must be in both Croatian and English language.
  3. Graphic files must not be large and must be submitted in a popular format (e.g. tif., jpeg.).

Papers should be addressed to: ''Naše more'', 20000 Dubrovnik, Ćira Carića 4; or by e-mail: nasemore@unidu.hr .
